NOTRE DAME, Ind. – The University of Notre Dame swimming and diving program returns to the pool this weekend. The Irish head south to face No. 7/11 Louisville on Friday and IUPUI on Saturday.

Notre Dame head coach Mike Litzinger is looking forward to seeing his much-improved team face some of the top competition in the country.

“Louisville is without a doubt the best team we will see on our schedule,” said Litzinger. “They’re well coached, experienced and at the top of their game.”

While the head-to-head against great conference opposition is something Litzinger will use to measure, he really views tomorrow’s dual as an opportunity to prepare his squad for the upcoming ACC Championships.

“I’m looking for our team to simply match up and compete,” said Litzinger. “If we do that, we will be in great shape and in a position that’ll lead us to greater success at the ACC Championships.”

The Irish enter their matchups with Louisville and IUPUI following last weekend’s successful efforts. Notre Dame registered victories over Big Ten foes Iowa, Illinois and Northwestern. On Friday, the Irish men knocked off the Hawkeyes, 191-106, and the women topped the Fighting Illini, 210-87, and Iowa 180-117. Both squads continued their respective winning ways at Northwestern last Saturday. The men won, 196-104, and the women were victorious, 182-118.

Friday’s meet is scheduled for a 2 p.m. ET start at Ralph Wright Natatorium in Louisville, Kentucky. The IUPUI meet is set to begin at 1 p.m. ET at the IU Natatorium in Indianapolis.

Fans can follow live results of the meet on both team Twitter accounts, @NDWSwimDive and @NDMensswimdive, with a complete recap posted to und.com at the conclusion of the meet.
