Notre Dame Players Compete In ITA Tournament At Courtney Tennis Center

NOTRE DAME, Ind. — Nearly 200 athletes competed at the Courtney Tennis Center this weekend, as Notre Dame hosted one of the Midwest stops on the USTA/ITA Summer Circuit. Rising junior Darby Mountford and rising sophomores Mary Closs, Monica Robinson and Jane Fennelly all competed in the singles bracket of the tournament. Mountford and rising junior Alaina Roberts paired up to compete on the doubles side.

Notre Dame men’s coach Ryan Sachire served as tournament director for the weekend.

“This tournament is one of many in the circuit that provides competitive opportunities to college players throughout the summer months,” he said. “We’re happy to give our players and those traveling from other schools a great experience this weekend.”

Of the Notre Dame women, Closs advanced the furthest in the singles bracket. She made it to the quarterfinals before loosing to third seed Erin Larner, 6-3, 6-2. Full results of the tournament can be found here.
