Notre Dame Moves Up To Seventh At Day Two Of Lady Razorback

Fayetteville, Ark. – Freshman Jane Lee (Palos Verdes Estates, Calif./Peninsula) helped to lead the way again for the Irish in day two of the Lady Razorback Invitational. Lee carded a four-over par 76, which was one-stoke better than her first round total, as the Irish sit in seventh place heading into the third and final round at the par 72, 6,015-yard Pinnacle Country Club. Iowa State’s Lisa Meshke fired a 70 for the second straight day to maintain her overall lead by seven shots and her team owns a 10-stroke advantage after two rounds of play.

Notre Dame began the day in ninth-place after shooting a 314 in day one, but responded on Monday with a 308 to move up two spots. Missouri (611), Arkansas (613), Texas A&M (613), Illinois State (619), and Michigan (621) join the Cyclones ahead of the Irish. Lee is 13 shots off the lead and in a four-way tie for 14th.

Fighting Irish sophomore Noriko Nakazaki (Hanover Park, Ill./Hoffman Estates) maintained her consistency as she registered a six-over par 78 for the second consecutive round to reside in a five-way tie for 26th. Katie Brophy (Spokane, Wash./Gonzaga Prep), a junior co-captain, bettered her day one score of 81 by two shots and is in a tie for 47th. Notre Dame senior Karen Lotta (Los Angeles, Calif./Marymount) carded the low round of the tournament so far for the Irish with a three-over par 75, which was 11-strokes better than her day one total, to currently place in a tie for 53rd. Junior Sarah Bassett (Spokane, Wash./Lewis & Clark) shot an 89 on Monday to go along with her first round score of 78 and is now in a tie for 83rd.

The tournament will conclude with the third round of competition on Tuesday. Tee times begin at 8:30 a.m. (CT). Results will be posted on the University of Arkansas web site at www.ladybacks.com.
