NOTRE DAME, Ind. – Tickets are now available to the general public for the University of Notre Dame Men’s Basketball Centennial Gala, to be held Saturday, March 5, 2005, in recognition of Notre Dame’s 100th season of basketball and honoring the 25-man All-Century Team.

The gala evening will begin at 6:30 p.m. EST with an autograph session involving members of the All-Century Team, followed at 7:30 p.m. by a reception featuring hors d’oeuvres and beverages, followed at 8:45 p.m. by the program featuring 100 seasons of men’s basketball and introducing and honoring the All-Century Team members (including video and remarks by several team members).

The Centennial Gala will be held at the sparkling new DeBartolo Center for the Performing Arts on the south edge of the Notre Dame campus. Business attire is requested.

Tickets are $50 each (plus a $7 service charge per order). You can order tickets through the Gate 1 second-floor ticket windows at the Joyce Center (9:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday), by calling 574-631-7356 or by writing Notre Dame Ticket Office, 113 Joyce Center, Notre Dame, IN 46556. Checks should be made payable to University of Notre Dame – and payment also can be made via Visa, MasterCard or American Express. Please note wheelchair seating if required.

Tickets will be mailed for any ticket orders received before February 25. After that date, all tickets will be at the will-call window of the Performing Arts Center.

The gala is slated for the night of Notre Dame’s final regular-season home men’s basketball game at 2:00 p.m. EST against Pittsburgh.

Notre Dame’s centennial celebration – sponsored by Comcast — has included a variety of elements:

*Following summer-long voting on Notre Dame’s athletic web site (www.und.com), 25 former Irish greats were announced as the Notre Dame All-Century Basketball Team: Bob Arnzen, Austin Carr, Matt Carroll, Adrian Dantley, LaPhonso Ellis, Pat Garrity, Tom Hawkins, Collis Jones, Leo Klier, Edward “Moose” Krause, John Moir, Troy Murphy, Paul Nowak, Kevin O’Shea, John Paxson, Ron Reed, David Rivers, Dick Rosenthal, Walt Sahm, John Shumate, Jack Stephens, Chris Thomas. Kelly Tripucka, Bob Whitmore and Monty Williams.

*Notre Dame’s 100 seasons of basketball are highlighted in a special, oversized, full-color commemorative yearbook titled “100 Seasons of Basketball: A Celebration of Irish Players and History.” The book is available exclusively through the Notre Dame Bookstore (call 800-647-4641 or go to www.ndcatalog.com). The publication, featuring features on the 25 members of the All-Century Team, a foreword by Austin Carr, an afterword by Chris Thomas, as well as lots of other stories and photos documenting Irish basketball history. It’s a production of Notre Dame Sports Properties, PSP and the University’s sports information office.

*A DVD series on Notre Dame’s 100 seasons of basketball is in the works through Atlas Technologies. Details of availability will be available soon.

*A 100th season logo appears on Irish uniforms throughout the 2004-05 season. The logo is also visible on a panel on the Joyce Center scorer’s table, as well as on merchandise available through the Notre Dame Bookstore.

*Centennial moments in Notre Dame basketball history are highlighted regularly on Notre Dame’s athletic web site (www.und.com), as well as on game broadcasts on the Notre Dame Basketball Radio Network coordinated by NDSP, and on public-address announcements at games.
