The University of Notre Dame recently joined an elite list of schools that have produced three or more top overall picks in the professional drafts for football, baseball, men’s basketball and women’s basketball.
LSU ranks as the only school to produce number-one overall selections in all four sports. Notre Dame joins Stanford and UCLA as the only institutions with top draftees in three sports-with the Irish selections comprising Austin Carr in men’s basketball, Angelo Bertelli, Frank Dancewicz, Leon Hart, Paul Hornung and Walt Patulski in football, and, most recently, Jewell Loyd in women’s basketball.
