Notre Dame In Second Place After Two Rounds Of Wolverine Invitational

ANN ARBOR, Mich. – The No. 11 Notre Dame women’s golf team carded rounds of 303 and 297 during the first day of play at the Wolverine Invitational on Saturday at the par 71, 6,098 yard U-M Golf Course. The Fighting Irish reside in second place, just two shots off the pace established by Michigan, with a 600 (+32) total heading into the third and final round on Sunday.

Michigan, the host school for the tournament, carded the day’s top round with a 295 during the morning. Notre Dame will look to catch the Wolverines and capture its third straight victory. SMU is currently in third with a 606, while Wisconsin and Indiana round out the top five with respective scores of 607 and 608.

Stephany Fleet from Eastern Michigan sits atop the individual leader board with an even-par 142 (72-70). Her second-round score of 70 was tied for the low round on the day. A three-way tie for second includes Notre Dame freshman So-Hyun Park (Seoul, South Korea/Bradenton Prep (FL)), who fired rounds of 74 and 71 to take a three-over par 145 into the final day of competition. Park is looking to capture her second straight tournament victory.

Fighting Irish junior Lisa Maunu (St. Thomas, Ontario/Parkside Collegiate Institute) resides in a three-way tie for fifth with a four-over par 146 after posting rounds of 74 and 72. Maunu is four shots off the pace as she looks to collect her second medalist honor of the season.

Notre Dame freshman Katie Conway (Wading River, N.Y./Shoreham-Wading River) is among a group of six golfers tied for 16th place with 154 (+12) totals. She carded a 78 during the first round and followed it up with a 76 in the afternoon. Her sophomore teammate Annie Brophy (Spokane, Wash./Gonzaga Prep) has a 155 (77-78) mark and is tied for 22nd.

Kristin Wetzel (Middletown, N.Y./Hilton Head Prep (SC)) rounded out the scoring for the Fighting Irish. The sophomore registered a 157 on the day with rounds of 79 and 78. She is tied for 30th.

The Wolverine Invitational will conclude on Sunday with the final 18 holes of play beginning with a shotgun start at 9:00 a.m. (ET). Live results of the tournament are available at Golfstat.com.
