Notre Dame Football Brings Bose Headset Technology to Sidelines

Sept. 7, 2017

In a year that already features significant technology upgrades at Notre Dame Stadium, University of Notre Dame athletics adds to that narrative by partnering with Bose to bring game-changing headset technology to its sidelines. The headsets will be used by head coach Brian Kelly and the Irish football staff in 2017 and 2018.

The Bose sideline headsets were built specifically for the demands of football. Currently used throughout the National Football League, they feature proprietary noise cancelling technology–found in the company’s military and aviation headsets–to dramatically reduce noise in real time, so coaches can hear each other clearly.

“The University made improved technology, including upgrades in Wi-Fi and connectivity, a major priority at Notre Dame Stadium,” says Notre Dame deputy athletics director Jim Fraleigh.

“So it’s only fitting that the Bose brand be a prominent part of that conversation. Game day communication between our coaches is a critical component for success, so we are pleased to know that our coaches will have access to state-of-the-art equipment provided by the industry leader in this area.”

“We know college football stadiums can get just as loud, if not more, than NFL stadiums, and that noise can be distracting for coaches. Every second counts when you’re calling plays and making in-game decisions,” says Matt Ruwe, senior product manager, Bose communication headsets. “We’re proud our headset technology is being used in more places where it will make an impact, and we’re looking forward to supporting Notre Dame football.”

The Bose sideline headset has been exhaustively tested in Bose labs to ensure it can take a beating. Using weather-resistant materials, it can withstand temperature extremes, from blistering heat to frigid cold, snow, torrential rain, gusting winds, and being thrown, dropped, spiked–and Gatorade.
