The above link provides a full-color PDF of the tournament program for the 2007 Notre Dame Collegiate Fencing Duals, to be held in the Joyce Center Fieldhouse on Sat., Jan. 20, and Sun., Jan. 21 (8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m each day, with all of the women’s bouts on Saturday and the men on Sunday). The marquee matchup each day will occur at approximately 11:20 a.m., when Notre Dame and Ohio State meet in a showdown between teams that have combined to win three of the past four NCAA combined (men’s/women’s) fencing titles. The first U.S. Fencing Coaches Association (USFCA) national poll of the 2007 season was released late Friday night and Notre Dame is 4th in the women’s poll (behind Penn State, Columbia and Harvard) and 5th in the men’s rankings while Ohio State is 6th in the women’s poll and 2nd in the men’s (behind Harvard). Another team in the 2007 ND Duals is listed in the top-10 of both polls, as Stanford is 8th in the men’s and 10th in the women’s polls (ND and Stanford will fence in the final round on each day, in the 2:45 range).
The tournament program includes color action photos of fencers from Notre Dame and from other teams in the competition, plus a headshot sheet (featuring ND’s top-three at each weapon), rosters of the 10 competing teams, a Notre Dame season schedule, individual statistical listings, the complete tournament schedule and some overiew notes (with a rundown of top fencers to watch).
As a reminder, live-stats from both days will be provided via the following link (also linked off the main page of und.com, in the lower-left schedule box):
A full preview of the tournament was posted earlier this week on und.com, at the following link (the other top team matchip to watch is the ND women vs. Wayne State, in the second round on Saturday around 9:00 a.m.):
