Notre Dame Drops One To DePaul, 73-67

ROSEMONT, Ill. (AP) – Freshman Wilson Chandler scored 21 points and had 12 rebounds to lead DePaul to their first Big East victory, by defeating Notre Dame 73-67 on Saturday afternoon.

Karron Clarke scored 14 points and Jabari Currie added 12 points for DePaul (8-5, 1-1), who is playing its first season in the Big East Conference.

Colin Falls hit five of his six 3-pointers in the second half for Notre Dame, who came off a double overtime loss at Pittsburgh on Wednesday.

Falls finished with 26 points and Chris Quinn added 16 for Notre Dame.

Notre Dame (9-4, 0-2) tied the game at 53 on a three-point play from Chris Quinn with 10:54 left after trailing by 17 points in the first half.

But Sammy Mejia came back with a 3-point play for DePaul, and Chandler hit a jumper to make it 58-53. DePaul never trailed again.

Falls made a layup to cut DePaul’s lead to 58-57, but DePaul pulled away with a reverse layup from Mejia and a jumper by Currie to make it 62-57 with 3:09 left in the game.

Mejia finished with 10 points for DePaul, all coming in the second half.
