Colgate Head Coach Emmett Davis

On the Colgate plan for Notre Dame’s Luke Harangody..

“Notre Dame is a pretty good passing basketball team. (Luke) Harangody has been solid in previous games and we did concentrate on him to see if we could do something to stop him. He is one of the best big guys I have seen play.”

On making adjustments from the first half…

“We tried to be tighter on a couple guys. We cut the lead to four, then seven, but we made a couple really bad plays that we need to not do if we want to be a good basketball team.”

On Notre Dame’s Kyle McAlarney

“He is an exceptional player. He shot the ball and handled it well. He is a point guard on the floor but can shoot it well too. In the second half, we tried to stay on him and not leave him open. I am impressed on Notre Dame’s ability to handle the ball.”

Notre Dame Player Quotes

Senior Forward Rob Kurz

On Notre Dame’s play tonight…

“We always want to play fast. We’ve got to keep up the tempo. Coach said he didn’t want to call a lot of plays tonight. He wants us talking, running, and transitioning together.”

On playing a team they are suppose to beat…

“We don’t expect anything. We know its college basketball and there are upsets all the time. We want to come out and play well so that we can finish as well as we can.”

Junior Guard Kyle McAlarney

On being a good team in the BIG EAST…

“To be a good team in the BIG EAST we have some things to work on. Defensively, rebounding is a point of emphasis for us, same as transitioning, getting back on the ball. Offensively we can usually get into a good rhythm.”

On Colgate’s play…

“They did a really good job at points in their defense. They are an older team. They are experienced guys. They had some good plays.”

On plays to improve the team…

“Tory (Jackson) and I have the ball to drive it in there. We’re looking for open shooters, open cutters, and our big guys can out run any big guys in the country. If they’re running in the lanes its easy to make plays, and we have a pretty good shot.”

On his three-point shot in the second half…

“Before I even touched it I knew it could go in. Its that kind of rhythm that I was in tonight. I was just dying to get the ball. I really credit my teammates they really found me tonight.”

Sophomore Luke Harangody Forward

On his quicker play this season…

“I feel it when I’m out there. Now when I’m out there I have to just slow down a little bit, so that I can take my time. I am getting kind of rushed in there, so I just have to slow it down.”
