STILLWATER, Okla. – The University of Notre Dame women’s tennis team will play for third place in its ITA Kick-Off Weekend pod as the No. T-32 Irish fell to No. 11 Oklahoma State 4-0 Saturday at the Greenwood Tennis Center in Stillwater.

Notre Dame will face No. 27 Arizona State on Sunday with the time yet to be determined.

The Irish scored bit of an upset in doubles as No. 32 Quinn Gleason and Monica Robinson upended No. 9 Maria Alvarez and Kelsey Laurente 6-1 on Court 1, but the Cowgirls went on to win the doubles point with convincing victories at slots No. 2 and 3 in the lineup. Katrina Adamovic and Vladica Babic defeated sophomores Brooke Broda and Allison Miller 6-3 on Court 2, while Viktoriya Lushkova and Carla Tu Mari won over juniors Mary Closs and Jane Fennelly 6-2 on Court 3.

The Cowgirls then took straight-set wins on Courts 2, 4 and 6 to clinch the shutout. No. 89 Laurente started things with a 6-0, 6-2 win over Closs at No. 4, followed by No. 38 Babic’s 6-4, 6-1 win over Robinson at No. 2. Alvarez closed the door with a 6-4, 6-2 win over senior Julie Vrabel at No. 6.

Brody led Katarina Stresnakova 6-3, 1-6, 2-0 before her match was abandoned, while Miller had nearly forced a third set on No. 3 against No. 46 Lushkova.
