Notre Dame hockey fans and hockey fans in general will get a chance to follow the Irish hockey program on the road to their first-ever appearance in an outdoor hockey game when the 30-minute documentary – “Sweet Home Chicago – Notre Dame Hockey” premieres on the NBC Sports Network on Thursday, March 7 at 10:00 p.m.

The documentary offers a behind-the-scenes look at the team’s preparation and participation in the Feb. 15-17 CCHA series between Notre Dame and Miami that culminated in the two teams playing in the opening game of the OfficeMax Hockey City Classic played at historic Soldier Field in Chicago, Ill., on February 17.

The show, produced by 3 Penny Films for Notre Dame’s Fighting Irish Digital Media, follows the Irish beginning the week of Feb. 10th with practice at the Compton Family Ice Arena, through the trip to Oxford, Ohio and the series opener with the RedHawks on Feb. 15 to the practice and actual game at Soldier Field on Feb. 16th and 17th.

Hockey fans will have the opportunity see the Irish behind the scenes from coaches’ meetings to pre-game preparations in the locker room to live action on the bench and the ice during the game. Players and coaches were wired for sound while cameras were imbedded with team for the entire week leading up to the important CCHA series with the RedHawks.

Besides the premiere date of March 7 at 10:00 p.m., “Sweet Home Chicago,” will also air on the NBC Sports Network on March 11 at 2:00 a.m., on March 12 at 3:30 p.m. and on March 18 at 3:30 p.m.
