No. 9 Women's Tennis Heads to Michigan

NOTRE DAME, Ind. – The ninth-ranked Notre Dame women’s tennis team is back on the road as they travel to No. 23 Michigan to match up against the Wolverines on Thursday, Jan. 31. The first serve is set for a 4 p.m. (ET) at the Varsity Tennis Center in Ann Arbor, Mich.

This will be the second consecutive ranked opponent for the Irish this season, after Notre Dame took on Vanderbilt Sunday. The Irish fell to the No. 16 team in the nation, 4-3, putting their season dual-match record at 1-1. Notre Dame will look to improve upon the record with a win over the ranked Wolverines.

This will be the 27th meeting between the two schools with Notre Dame leading the all-time series, 18-8. Irish head coach Jay Louderback has led the Notre Dame squad to 16 of those victories, with only three losses. The Irish currently have a four-match win streak over the Wolverines and have won 13 of the last 14 meetings. Notre Dame defeated Michigan twice during the 2007 season, in both regular season action and the NCAA Tournament.

Ronni Bernstein who is in her first season as the Michigan women’s tennis head coach will lead the Wolverines. Bernstein joined the Wolverines in August of 2007 and has led her squad to a 0-2 start in the dual-match season.
