No. 29 Irish Travel To No. 48 Michigan State Saturday

NOTRE DAME, Ind. – The No. 29 University of Notre Dame men’s tennis team hits the road Saturday for a key regional matchup with No. 48 Michigan State in East Lansing, Mich. The match is slated to get underway at 12 p.m. at the MSU Indoor Tennis Facility.

The Irish (4-3) are coming off a Super Bowl Sunday split in which they fell to then-No. 5 Duke, 4-0, before dropping IUPUI, 7-0.

Notre Dame has been paced thus far by steady singles play at one, three and six, where Greg Andrews (5-1), Quentin Monaghan (4-1) and Ryan Bandy (3-0) are a combined 12-2.

The Spartans (4-3) are coming off a 4-3 loss to Princeton. MSU boasts wins over ranked opponents Vanderbilt (6-1) and South Carolina (4-3) and has suffered set backs to ranked teams Memphis (6-1) and Kentucky (5-2). Notre Dame already has a 4-0 win over Memphis and plays at Kentucky Feb. 12.

Leading MSU in singles are Gijs Linders (6-1), Jon Patrick Mullane (5-1) and Aaron Pfister (4-3).

Last season No. 29 Notre Dame swept No. 56 Michigan State, 7-0, at Eck Tennis Pavilion.
