April 12, 2013

NOTRE DAME, Ind. – The University of Notre Dame women’s tennis team will close the 2013 regular season this weekend with a pair of matches in the state of Florida.

The No. 25 Irish (12-8) are scheduled to face Central Florida Saturday at 2 p.m. in Orlando before traveling to Tampa for an 11 a.m. showdown with BIG EAST foe South Florida on Sunday.

The Saturday meeting will be the first in series history between Notre Dame and Central Florida. The Knights are the fourth opponent that the Irish have met for the first time this season, joining UAB, Nebraska and Memphis.

Notre Dame is 8-3 all-time against USF, winning the last three matches against the Bulls. The Irish overcame USF 4-1 in the finals of last year’s BIG EAST Championship to win the program’s fifth straight conference tournament. Head coach Jay Louderback is 8-3 against the Bulls, leading Notre Dame in each previous meeting between the two teams.

The USF Varsity Tennis Courts will be the site of the 2013 BIG EAST Championship, which will be held April 18-21.
