No. 20 Notre Dame Women's Swimming And Diving Travels To The Minnesota Invitational This Weekend

NOTRE DAME, Ind. – The No. 20 University of Notre Dame women’s swimming and diving team (3-0) will head to Minnesota this weekend to participate in the Minnesota Invitational. The meet will take place from Nov. 17-19 at the University Aquatic Center in Minneapolis, Minn. The results for all three days are expected to be carried live on the Golden Gophers website (gophersports.com).

Among the other 16 schools at the meet are North Dakota, Wisconsin, Iowa State, Nebraska, Tennessee, UCLA, Air Force and the host school Minnesota.

The meet begins with the preliminaries at noon on Friday, Nov. 17 as the 200-yard free relay, 500-yard freestyle, 200-yard individual medley, 50-yard freestyle, 400-yard medley relay and women’s three-meter diving will be run. The finals for the day begin at 6 p.m.

The second day, Saturday, Nov. 18 starts at 11 a.m. with the preliminaries for the 200-yard medley relay, 400-yard individual medley, 100-yard butterfly, 200-yard freestyle, 100-yard breaststroke, 100-yard backstroke, 800-yard free relay and the women’s one-meter diving. The finals for the day start at 6 p.m.

The final day of action, Nov. 19, begins at 10 a.m. with the preliminaries for the 1,650-yard freestyle, 200-yard backstroke, 100-yard freestyle, 200-yard breaststroke, 200-yard butterfly, 400-yard freestyle. The action concludes with the finals at 3 p.m.

The Irish, led by senior Katie Carroll (Toledo, Ohio/Notre Dame Academy) and junior Caroline Johnson (Springfield, Mo./Glendale Heights) are coming off a pair of dual-meet wins over the weekend. Carroll picked up four individual event victories (50-yard freestyle, 200-yard individual medley, 400-yard individual medley and 1,000-yard freestyle), while Caroline Johnson won three times (100-yard backstroke, 50-yard freestyle and 100-yard freestyle) against Michigan State and Pittsburgh.

Next, the Irish send its divers to the Ohio State Invitational in Columbus, Ohio from Dec. 1-3, while the swimmers head to the U.S. Open Swim in West Lafayette, Ind. from Nov. 30-Dec. 3.
