Notre Dame at Michigan Box Score

ANN ARBOR, Mich. (AP) – Daniel Horton’s three-point play with 20.7 seconds to go lifted Michigan to a 61-60 win over No. 20 Notre Dame on Saturday.

Chris Thomas had two chances in the last 10 seconds to score a go-ahead basket for Notre Dame, but he missed the first and had the second attempt blocked by Brent Petway.

The Wolverines (4-3) had lost three straight to No. 4 Georgia Tech, Providence and No. 21 Arizona. Horton scored 15 points, all in the second half. Ron Coleman added 11 and Dion Harris had 10.

Dennis Latimore led the Fighting Irish (3-1) with 18 points, twice his average since transferring from Arizona. Torin Francis scored 12.

Michigan led by 11 late in the first half, but trailed by 10 midway through the second half.

An 8-0 run got the Wolverines back into the game. Horton, who scored his first points at early in the second half, scored 11 points in the last five-plus minutes.

Horton’s three-point play gave Michigan its first lead since the first half. Petway’s game-saving block came after he missed the front end of a 1-and-1 opportunity at the free throw line.

The Irish won their first three games against Harvard, Indiana-Purdue-Fort Wayne and Charleston Southern.

While Michigan and Notre Dame are rivals in football, they hadn’t played a regular-season game on the basketball court since 1993.
