No. 19 Notre Dame Women's Swimming And Diving Finishes Third At The U.S. Open Swim

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind.- The No. 19 Notre Dame women’s swimming and diving team (3-0) had a great final day at the U.S. Open Swim, to finished third against the highly ranked national field on Saturday, Dec. 2 in West Lafayette, Ind. The Irish totaled 89 points to finish behind only No. 3 Auburn and No. 6 Florida.

Junior Katie Carroll (Toledo, Ohio/Notre Dame Academy) and rest of the 400-meter free relay team of Rebecca Grove (Yorktown Heights, NY./Yorktown), Christa Riggins (Phoenix, Ariz./Sunnyslope) and Caroline Johnson (Springfield, Mo./Glendale) placed seventh with their time of 3:56.64.

Carroll also had an individual finish of 21st in the 200-meter butterfly with her time of 2:17.73.

The Irish divers competed on the second day of the Ohio State Invitational and had three finishers in the top-20 in the one-meter dive. Freshman Natalie Stitt (Holland, Mich./West Ottawa) finished 11th with 233.10 points. The other Irish top finishers include Lucy Hirt (Mundelein, Ill./Mundelein) who finished 15th (214.30 points) and Tiffany Robak (Milwaukee, Wis./Pius XI) who placed 16th (214.15 points)

Next, Notre Dame women’s swimming and diving team will head to Hawai’i to compete in the Hawai’i Invitational from Jan. 5-7.
