No. 19 Notre Dame's Women's Swimming And Diving Team Travels To Louisville This Weekend

NOTRE DAME, Ind. – The No. 19 Notre Dame women’s swimming and diving team will conclude the 2006-07 dual-meet season against Louisville on Feb. 3 at the Ralph Wright Natatorium at 3 p.m. The Irish are 7-1 on the season heading into this weekend’s action.

Last weekend, the Notre Dame women hosted the Shamrock Dual Meet Invitational and went 3-1 with victories over Oakland (310-54), Connecticut (293-76) and West Virginia (222.50-147.50), while falling to No. 15 Penn State (213.50-156.50).

Senior Katie Carroll (Toledo, Ohio/Notre Dame Academy) picked up two more event victories in the 200-yard IM (2:02.40) and the 1,650-yard freestyle (16:27.48). Carroll’s 1,650 time was a pool record and her 15th individual victory of the season.

Fellow senior Julia Quinn (Evanston, Ill./Evanston) also set a pool record at the Shamrock with her season-best time of 2:16.26 in the 200-yard breaststroke.

The Irish women are 3-0 all-time against Louisville, including a 218-148 victory over the Cardinals at last season’s Shamrock Invitational.

Following this weekend’s action, Notre Dame will return to the pool and head to the 2007 BIG EAST Championships from Feb. 14-17 in East Meadow, N.Y. at the Nassau County Aquatic Center. The Irish women have won a conference record-tying 10 consecutive league titles
