NOTRE DAME, Ind. – On a two-match win streak, the No. 11 Notre Dame men’s tennis team will travel to Durham, N.C., to take on the No. 15 Duke Blue Devils on Sunday, Feb. 3. The first serve is set for a noon (ET) start.
The Irish currently have a 4-1 dual-match record heading into Sunday’s competition. Junior Brett Helgeson continues to lead Notre Dame in singles, remaining the No. 11 collegiate singles competitor. Senior Sheeva Parbhu has also been taking a step up in action, after solidly defeating Dominic Inglot of Virginia, ranked No. 3 in singles action, a week ago.
Going into the weekend’s competition, Duke has a 2-0 record. On Friday, Feb. 1, the Blue Devils will match up with Illinois in Durham before Sunday’s match with the Irish. Currently Duke has no athletes ranked in either the singles or doubles national rankings.
This is the 21st meeting between the two teams in men’s tennis action. Duke leads the all-time series, 15-5 with head coach Bobby Bayliss holding a 5-10 record against the Blue Devils. The latest match up between the squads was just a year ago. The Irish took the sound victory, 6-1.
