Notre Dame, Ind. – Nina Stephan has been named Director of Rules Education at the University of Notre Dame.

A 2005 graduate of Tulane University Law School with a concentration in sports law, Stephan will be responsible for the coordination and education of NCAA and BIG EAST Conference compliance rules as they pertain to athletic department staff, coaches, student-athletes and the University community. She will also serve as a liaison to alumni groups and members of the Notre Dame and public communities at-large in broadening understanding of NCAA regulations.

Stephan received her bachelor’s degree in accounting from Notre Dame’s Mendoza College of Business in 2000. Following her graduation, she served a six-month internship in the Irish athletics business office and then was interim senior administrative assistant in athletic director Kevin White office.

From June 2001 thru June 2002, Stephan was a finance and information services intern with the NCAA in Indianapolis. While at the NCAA, she wrote financial summaries for selected championships, audited institution grant-in-aid submissions and assisted with the preparation of the annual bowl financial analysis. In addition, Stephan served on various project teams, including the ’02 Title IX Seminar, ’02 Champs/Life Skills Conference and ’02 Conference Intern Seminar.

During the summers of 2003 and 2004, she served three-month internships at Nike, Inc. in Beaverton, Ore., serving as a legal intern the first year and as a sports marketing operations intern during her second stint with the company.

While an undergraduate at Notre Dame, she was head manager for the women’s swimming and diving team during the 1999-2000 school year and served as a junior football manager during the 1998 season.
