Irish Volleyball Announces Spring Slate

NOTRE DAME, Ind. — The Notre Dame volleyball team will be in action four times this March and April in preparation for the 2019 campaign.

“This group has put in a tremendous effort to become the very best that we are capable,” said Irish head coach Mike Johnson.  “We have made changes through our individual training sessions and look to continue to progress as we begin our team training. Towards that end, I am looking forward to the upcoming competitions to help further to learn and improve.  Winning the ACC is not simply a venture for the fall. That work begins now.”

The Irish open their spring slate on Saturday, March 30th in a tournament at Michigan State before returning to action on Saturday, April 6th against Illinois State. That match will be played in Chicago at Mother McAuley High School, the home of Notre Dame freshman standout Charley Niego and 2018 ACC Defensive Player of the Year Ryann DeJarld.

Notre Dame also takes on University of Illinois-Chicago on Saturday, April 13th and Valparaiso on Friday, April 26th.

In 2019, the Irish are set to return four Second Team All-ACC honorees, including Sydney Bent, Charley Niego, Zoe Nunez and Jemma Yeadon. Bent, Niego and Nunez each earned ACC All-Freshman Team accolades and Niego was also named an AVCA honorable mention All-American.
