NOTRE DAME, Ind. — Following a thrilling run through the Big Ten Tournament culminating in Saturday night’s 3-2 championship game win over Penn State, the University of Notre Dame hockey team has made the NCAA Championship field for a fourth consecutive season.

The Fighting Irish learned on Sunday evening via the NCAA selection show (ESPNU) they will be the No. 3 seed in the Northeast Regional in Manchester, New Hampshire and will take on No. 2 seed Clarkson in the first round. The Northeast Regional’s other first round game will also include No. 1 seed Massachusetts playing No. 4 seed Harvard.

The Northeast Regional will take place on Friday and Saturday, March 29-30 at the SNHU Arena. Notre Dame’s game is scheduled for the second game of the session at 6:30 p.m. (ESPNU) with UMass and Harvard playing at 3 p.m. (ESPN2).

Notre Dame, which has made it to the last two Frozen Fours including an appearance in the 2018 national title game, has made the NCAA tournament for the 11th time in program history and for the 10th time under head coach Jeff Jackson. In 2008, 2011, 2017 and 2018 Jackson guided Notre Dame to the Frozen Four. Notre Dame is 11-10-0 all-time in NCAA Tournament games (11-9-0 under Jackson).

The Golden Knights (26-10-2), who captured the 2019 ECAC Tournament Championship, and Notre Dame have only played three times in series history, none of which have come in NCAA play. Clarkson leads the all-time series 2-1-0.
