Muya Inks Pro Deal In France

NOTRE DAME, Ind. – Graduate student Karin Muya signed a professional deal with Ambilly Féminin FC in France. Ambilly Féminin FC is within the Association Croix de Savoie Football Academy and play in the French Second Division. Muya joins Sabrina Flores (Sky Blue F.C. – NWSL) as the second Irish student-athlete to land pro deals this spring.

After battling injuries during her first few years with the Irish, Muya broke out during her final season in 2018. She played in all 18 games and made six starts after coming back from an injury last season. Muya tallied career highs in goals (7) and points (15), both of which were team highs last season.

The London, England native tallied the game-winning and first goal of the season in the 72nd minute in the 2-1 come from behind win over Cincinnati. Muya got her first start of the season against No. 21 NC State and scored in the opening minutes to lead the Irish to a 2-1 upset win.

She scored her second goal in as many games against No. 4 North Carolina when she netted the equalizer in the 11th minute to level the game at 1-1. Muya recorded her first multi-goal game when the Irish had their highest offensive output of the season in the 5-1 win over Syracuse. At the end of the regular season, Muya was selected third team All-ACC by the conference coaches.

Muya finished her Irish career with 33 points (13 goals, 7 assists) over 53 games played.
