Cale Morris Named Big Ten’s First Star of the Week

NOTRE DAME, Ind. —  Junior goaltender Cale Morris has been named the Big Ten’s First Star of the Week, the conference announced on Thursday morning (Jan. 3). Morris was previously named the conference’s Third Star back on November 6.

Morris helped the sixth-ranked Irish earn a 4-0 victory over Boston College on New Year’s Eve inside a sold out Compton Family Ice Arena (5,330). The netminder stopped all 20 shots he faced to notch his second shutout of the 2018-19 season and sixth of his career. Morris now owns a 9-5-1 record with a .931 save percentage and 2.13 goals against average this season.

Over the past two seasons, Morris has racked up 10 weekly Big Ten honors: First Star (6), Second Star (2), Third Star (2).

Morris and the Irish return to action with an outdoor game at Notre Dame Stadium on Saturday (Jan. 5) against Michigan. Puck drop is set for 3:30 p.m. ET and the game will be televised on NBCSN. For complete details, including ticket information, see below.
