NOTRE DAME, Ind. – The Notre Dame women’s soccer team (5-6, 1-2) continues its four game homestand Sunday afternoon when they take on the 21st-ranked North Carolina State Wolfpack (8-2-2, 1-1-1). The Irish and Wolfpack will meet this weekend after their original match was postponed two weeks ago due to the effects of Hurricane Florence in the North Carolina area.

SERIES HISTORY: WOLFPACK
Notre Dame and NC State will meet for the seventh time in program history Sunday afternoon at Alumni stadium. The Irish hold a 5-2 all-time record against the Wolfpack and are 4-1 against NC State since the two teams have become ACC foes. Last season, the teams squared off twice, once at Notre Dame and the other in Raleigh. The Wolfpack won the most recent meeting 4-1 in Raleigh in the ACC quarterfinals. The Irish came out on top in the regular season meeting at home 4-0, recording their fifth shutout of the season. Natalie Jacobs and Sandra Yu took care of all the scoring, as both players netted two goals against a Wolfpack defense that had just conceded two goals all season.
BALANCED ATTACKED
Heading into ACC play, the Irish boast a balanced offensive attack. Notre Dame has scored 13 goals this season with eight different players recording a goal. Jennifer Westendorf, Karin Muya, Brooke VanDyck, Olivia Wingate and Eva Hurm lead the way with two goals apiece with four other players tallying a goal. Westendorf scored her second goal of the season against Santa Clara on a beautiful one-touch shot coming off a failed Bronco pass. Sammi Fisher picked up her first goal of the year in the second half with a 25-yard strike to the top right corner. Muya tallied her second goal of the year against Stanford coming off a great flick pass from Westendorf. VanDyck tallied her second of the year on the road against Wake Forest off of a cross from Westendorf. It gave the Irish
IRISH IN MIDST OF RANKED HOMESTAND
The Irish are in the middle of a four game homestand with all four opponents ranked in the current United Soccer Coaches poll. Three of the four teams (No. 3 North Carolina, No. 6 Virginia, and No. 10 Florida State) are all ranked in the top-10. Last season, the Irish were 4-4-2 against ranked foes. Sunday’s match against NC State will be the fourth ranked foe of the season for the Irish after already facing off with No. 1 Stanford, No. 10 Florida State and No. 12 Santa Clara.
