2018 Volleyball Captains

DeJarld And Nunge Announced As Volleyball Captains

University of Notre Dame senior volleyball players Ryann DeJarld and Rebecca Nunge have been selected as captains for the 2018 season. Both student-athletes have played integral roles on the court over the past three seasons.

Ryann DeJarld

The senior is the top libero in program history, recording a program record 1,964 digs in her career. DeJarld also holds program records for digs in a season (747 – 2017) and career digs per set (5.11). The senior has also thrived at the service line, recording 127 aces in her career. DeJarld became Notre Dame’s first player since joining the ACC in 2013 to earn first team All-ACC status following her junior campaign. The libero was also named a 2017 AVCA Honorable Mention All-American.

Rebecca Nunge

The senior outside hitter has been a mainstay on the court for the Irish over the course of her career. Nunge has accrued 736 kills, 303 blocks and 216 digs over her four seasons. The outside hitter was named the BGSU/Toledo Invitational MVP as a junior and is a two-time selection to the Golden Dome Invitational All-Tournament Team. Nunge has also earned three ACC Academic Honor Roll distinctions.
