ND Invitational Day One Recap

NOTRE DAME, Indiana — The University of Notre Dame women’s tennis team wrapped action on day one of the Notre Dame Invitational at the Eck Tennis Pavilion. Head coach Alison Silverio’s squad won two of three doubles matches while taking all six singles matches.

Doubles Action

The three Irish doubles teams took the court first. The nationally ranked duo of Cameron Corse and Zoe Spence secured a quick 6-0 victory over Minnesota’s Caitlyn Merzbacher and Tiffany Huber, while the rookie pairing of Maeve Koscielski and Zoe Taylor won a 6-2 decisions over the Gopher team of River Hart and Camila Vargas.

Singles Action

Waldram, Spence, Taylor and Koscielski were straight set victors in singles play. 

Waldram defeated DePaul’s Aspasia Avgeri, 6-0, 6-1, while Spence won over DPU’s Marija Jovicic, 6-2, 6-1. Taylor dropped just one game to DePaul’s Maddie Yergler (6-1, 6-0) while Koscielski won a pair of 6-2 sets over Minnesota’s Camila Vargas.

Bojczuk won a three-set battle with DePaul’s Keisha Clousing (6-4, 5-7, 6-1). Corse won after DePaul’s Hristina Djokic had to retire due to injury with the Blue Demon leading 6-4, 4-1.

Notre Dame Invitational

Day two of the Notre Dame Invitational will start on Saturday with doubles action at 10 a.m. ET, followed by singles action starting at approximately 11 a.m.
