NOTRE DAME, Ind. — Following a successful opening weekend in which its members collected nine medals at the Penn State Garret Open, the University of Notre Dame fencing program will return to the collegiate strip for the final time in 2018 when they compete at the Elite Invitational on Sunday at Ohio State.

Sunday’s meet will mark Notre Dame’s first dual competition of the season, with the Irish competing individually at the Garret Open. Aside from the host Buckeyes, the Irish will face teams from Penn State, North Carolina, Princeton, Northwestern and Penn.

The Irish last competed at the Garret Open two weeks ago, garnering nine individual podium finishes to kick off the 2018-19 campaign. On Saturday, the women competed and senior epeeist Amanda Sirico claimed gold, junior foilist Morgan Partridge picked up silver and senior foilist Elyssa Kleiner and sophomore sabreuse Reghan Ward snared bronze. The men picked up where the women left off Sunday as senior Dylan French and junior Aidan Antekeier went first and second in epee, sophomores Robert Wong and Joseph Marino claimed second and third in foil and freshman Jared Smith finished third in sabre.
