McGraw to Enter Philadelphia Sports Hall of Fame

NOTRE DAME, Ind. – Another Hall of Fame awaits Karen & Kevin Keyes Family Notre Dame head coach Muffet McGraw. The Philadelphia area native returns home on Thursday to be inducted into the Philadelphia Sports Hall of Fame. Coach McGraw, former 76er Allen Iverson, former Eagle Brian Westbrook and former Phillie Jamie Moyer highlight the 2018 class.

It was just little over a year ago that McGraw was enshrined with the ultimate basketball honor, entering into the Naismith Memorial Hall of Fame in September of 2017. She was previously inducted into the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame in 2014 and the Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame in 2011. Furthermore, back on Oct. 3, McGraw was enshrined into the Chicagoland Sports Hall of Fame.

With two national championships to her name, Coach McGraw is one-of-six different women’s hoops coaches with multiple NCAA titles, joining Geno Auriemma, Pat Summitt, Linda Sharp, Tara VanDerveer and Kim Mulkey. In addition, McGraw is one of just two active Division I coaches with at least six NCAA title game appearances and just one-of-three all-time to reach eight Final Fours.

McGraw enters her 32nd season at Notre Dame with 800 wins and a .777 winning percentage. The Philadelphia native also enters her 37th year overall as a head coach with 888 career wins and is on pace to become the fourth fastest Division I coach to 900 wins.

In fact, only McGraw, Summitt, Auriemma and Duke men’s coach Mike Krzyzewski are the only four coaches in both men’s and women’s hoops to achieve over 885 career wins, reach at least eight Final Fours and win multiple NCAA championships.

A four-time National Coach of the Year, McGraw has accumulated 62 NCAA Tournament wins and 25 total conference regular season and tournament championships, all while coaching 20 different All-Americans at Notre Dame.

The 2018 Philadelphia Hall of Fame class consists of 15 individuals listed below, along with the 1948-49 Eagles. It marks the 15th overall class to be inducted.

The ceremony will take place at the Sugarhouse Event Center and begin at 7 p.m. ET. Pat Williams will serve as the Master of Ceremonies.
