Bobby Nardella Named Big Ten’s First Star of the Week

NOTRE DAME, Ind. — Senior defenseman Bobby Nardella has been named the Big Ten’s First Star of the Week and the NCAA’s Third Star of the Week on Tuesday (Oct. 17.). In addition, junior forward Cal Burke was tabbed the conference’s third star.

Nardella collected six points (2G, 4A) this past weekend to help the Irish earn a pair of road victories over Omaha. Five of those points came in Saturday’s (Oct. 20) 8-2 win over the Mavericks. The performance marked the first five-point game and 15th multi-point game of Nardella’s career. He also netted the first shorthanded goal of his career in Saturday’s contest.

Burke matched Nardella’s five points on Saturday night with two goals and three assists of his own. The five points were a career-high for Burke, who also notched his first shorthanded goal in an Irish uniform in Saturday’s win.
On the season, Nardella is tied for the NCAA lead with 10 points on three goals and seven assists. Burke also is tied for the NCAA lead with five goals.

Next up, top-ranked Notre Dame plays host to No. 3/2 Minnesota Duluth on Friday (7:00 p.m. ET) and Saturday (5:00 p.m. ET) night in a rematch of last season’s NCAA Championship game at the Compton Family Ice Arena. For ticket availability, click here.
