Irish in Fifth Place After First Round of Quail Valley

VERO BEACH, Fla. – The University of Note Dame men’s golf team began its last tournament of the fall season on Sunday, competing at the Quail Valley Collegiate. The Fighting Irish shot a 286 (-2) in the opening round, sitting in fifth place, just seven strokes behind the leader, Arkansas State.
 
Sophomore Davis Chatfield led the Irish with a round of 69 (-3), which puts him in a tie for sixth place, just two strokes off the leader, Ryoto Furuya of South Florida.
 
ROUND ONE
Chatfield posted a bogey-free round, recording birdies on holes one, nine and 10 to finish round one, three-under par.
 
John Felitto, fresh off his third place showing at the Fighting Irish Classic, was inserted into the Notre Dame lineup and tallied a 72, even-par. Speaking of which, senior Miguel Delgado also netted a 72-even par for the Irish today.
 
Rounding out the Irish lineup was freshman Andrew O’Leary and junior Davis Lamb, who each shot a 73 (+1).
