NOTRE DAME, Ind. — After announcing the addition of three signees in the fall, the Notre Dame volleyball team has added a fourth member to the incoming class of 2017 in Emma Cottrill. The 6-foot-2 Cottrill joins libero Madison Cruzado, setter Monroe Olsen and outside hitter Hannah Thompson as the newest additions to the Irish family.

The addition of Cottrill solidifies the 2017 incoming class and moves the Irish to No. 28 in the PrepVolleyball.com Top 30 Recruiting Class Rankings. The publication states, “The evolution of Notre Dame is well under way and this class is further evidence of great things to come in South Bend.”

Head Coach Jim McLaughlin on Emma Cottrill:
“I think Emma has a good arm and she has good lateral speed but what separates her more than anything is she is very mature and she has a good focus. I believe she can learn the things that we want to teach her at Notre Dame in all areas. I think she will improve to the point where she can make a solid contribution to this program.”

Cottrill on why she chose Notre Dame:
“I chose The University of Notre Dame because it offered everything I had hoped for as a collegiate athlete. To attend a university with top academics, highly competitive volleyball, a deeply spiritual environment, and unparalleled reputation is so exciting. I am honored to have been selected to attend Notre Dame.”
