LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Irish men’s and women’s throwers put on an impressive display in day one of the Louisville Invitational, winning three of the four events to kick the meet off.
The women went 2-for-2 on event titles for the day, winning both the hammer throw and discus. Rachel Tanczos took the hammer throw crown with a mark of 61.78m.
Teammate Maura Kimmel claimed victory in the discus with a throw of 51.84m, narrowly edging Tanczos in the event, who finished second posting a distance of 51.55m
On the men’s side, Logan Kusky dominated the hammer throw event, earning a first place finish with a throw of 63.21m. Teammates Jamar Manning (57.10m) and Blake Kusky (56.49m) took second and third place, respectively.
The second and final day of the Louisville invite features an entire afternoon of events, beginning with the men’s shot put at noon ET. The track portion of the schedule gets underway at 1 p.m. with the steeplechase.
