FOR STARTERS

  • The Irish will meet up with the Michigan Wolverines for the second time this season in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. There will be live stats available and the matchup will be aired live on ESPN+.
  • The winner of the Notre Dame/Michigan contest will take on the winner of the Northwestern/Central Michigan in the second round on Sunday May 15.
  • Entering the NCAA Tournament, Kasey Choma leads the team with 57 goals.
  • Bridget Deehan established a new career high for the second time this season. She notched 19 saves in the matchup against North Carolina.
  • Maddie Howe notched a new career high against the Yale Bulldogs with seven goals.
  • Hannah Dorney leads the Irish with 27 caused turnovers and currently ranks fourth in the ACC with an average of 1.44 caused turnovers per game.
  • Bridget Deehan ranks third in the ACC in saves percentage (.444) and second in saves per game (8.67).
  • Madison Ahern is ninth in the ACC in points per game with 4.11 points per game, and she is also fourth in shots per game with 6.39.
  • Jackie Wolak is sixth in the ACC in assists per game with 1.67.

THE NOTRE DAME – MICHIGAN SERIES

  • The Irish and Wolverines will be meeting for the fifth time overall on Friday at Martin Stadium.
  • This is the second meeting of the season for these two teams. They met in February when the Irish fell 11-7.
  • Kasey Choma, Madison Ahern, and Madison Mote each netted two goals. Hannah Dorney tallied one goal. 
  • Bridget Deehan tallied seven saves while in goal. 

2022 NCAA TOURNAMENT

  •  The 2022 NCAA Tournament has Notre Dame traveling to Evanston, Illinois for the first and second round. 
  • The winner of the Notre Dame/Michigan contest will take on the winner of the Northwestern/Central Michigan in the second round on Sunday May 15.
  • Notre Dame meets up with Michigan in the first round and before that matchup is Northwestern and Central Michigan..
  • The 2022 NCAA D1 Women’s Lacrosse Championship features 29 teams, with the top-three seeds earning a first-round bye.
  • A nations-best six schools from the ACC are in the NCAA Tournament, including two of the three top seeds in #1 North Carolina, #3 Boston College. 
  • The winner of the Evanston Regional will meet the winner of the Princeton Regional on May 19. The Final Four is slated for May 27 & 29 and will be hosted by Johns Hopkins University at Homewood Field in Baltimore, Maryland.

IRISH vs. OTHER EVANSTON REGIONAL PARTICIPANTS

  • This will be the second meeting against both Northwestern or Central Michigan.
  • Against Central Michigan, the Irish won 24-5. Madison Ahern netted a career high of six goals in the contest.
  • Maddie Howe notched her 200th career point in the season opener.
  • Jane McAvoy, Ava Kristynik, and Mary Kelly Doherty each registered their first collegiate career goal with the Irish.
  • Notre Dame holds the 2-0 overall advantage over Central Michigan.
  • Against Northwestern, Kasey Choma led the team with four goals, and Maddie Howe, Jackie Wolak, and Kelly Denes all tallied three goals each.
  • Bridget Deehan tallied 10 saves during the contest.
  • Northwestern holds the advantage in the overall series with Notre Dame 22-5.
  • The Irish and Chippewas have never met in the NCAA Tournament, and have met with Northwestern seven previous times in the NCAA Tournament.
