NOTRE DAME QUOTES

Notre Dame Head Coach Muffet McGraw

Opening statement
“I thought Lindsay Schrader was outstanding today. It’s great for the future of our program to have a freshman come in and break some records. I knew she would be ready because she’s had some great practices the past few weeks. She gives us a lot of optimism for next year. I don’t know what you can say about Megan Duffy that hasn’t already been said. She’s been an amazing player and a leader. She did a great job as she always does and represented Notre Dame so well. It’s unfortunate the rest of the team didn’t help out so much today. I thought Boston College really played with a lot of experience and a lot of poise.”

On expectations…
“I think you have real high expectations when you have players like Courtney LaVere step up the last few weeks like she has, especially when they’ve been here before. It shouldn’t have been the drastic change it was tonight. I’m not sure why that happened, and I guess that’s why it’s so disappointing.”

Notre Dame guard Megan Duffy

On Boston College guard Sarah Marshall…
“I think she reminds me of the way I play, the way she leads her team. She did a great job defending me tonight.”

On her career…
“Obviously, this isn’t the way I wanted to go out, and this isn’t acceptable for the Notre Dame program. It’s been a memorable four years for me and I couldn’t have asked for anything more, other than a few more wins. I developed my game because of this university and Coach McGraw.”

Notre Dame guard Lindsay Schrader

On her performance…
“I just tried to look for my shots. I had a lot driving opportunities and tried to get to the foul line. I wish I would’ve got there more.”

BOSTON COLLEGE QUOTES

Boston College Head Coach Cathy Inglese

Opening statement…
“I’m extremely pleased with this victory. It shows what kind of team we are when a lot of people finish with double figures in scoring, and not just one or two players. I think they distributed the ball well. I’m extremely pleased with the effort coming off the bench and I think they did a great job for us, as well as our starters. Another thing that was effective for us was having only one turnover in the second half. It’s something we’ve really talked about as a team going into this tournament.”

On defending Notre Dame guard Megan Duffy…
“I knew it would be a challenge for Sarah guarding Duffy, and I think she did a great job sticking with her. Megan is such a great player, and we talked about team defense and other players helping out, not only our guards, but our post players as well.”

Boston College guard Sarah Marshall

On playing Notre Dame…
“We were really excited to be here, no matter who we were playing. Obviously, with a team like Notre Dame that we’ve had a previous rivalry with, that just added to the excitement. We were just real excited to get on the court and play tonight.”

On guarding Notre Dame guard Megan Duffy…
“It’s definitely a team effort when guarding someone like Megan Duffy who’s constantly moving off the ball and coming off screens, and we focused on that in preparations for this game. It was a team effort in trying to shut her down, or at least make the looks she had a little tougher. She’s a great player and she’s going to make great plays. You just hope to contain her.”

Boston College forward Brooke Queenan

On rebounding…
“We definitely came into the game with controlling the rebounds as a goal of ours. I think we did a really good job of sticking to that gameplan and getting some offensive rebounds.”

On the defensive effort…
“Another goal of ours was to play good team defense. I think we did a good job on switching and communicating, and that allowed us to accomplish our goals on defense.”
