Irish look to make history this week

***Update*** Due to inclement weather forecasted for Tuesday, the Stillwater Regional will now play 36 holes on Monday.

STILLWATER, OK – The upward trend of momentum that has been built around the Notre Dame men’s golf program has culminated into this moment. From May 17-19, the Fighting Irish will be competing in the Stillwater, Oklahoma, regional at the Karsten Creek Golf Club.

It marks their first postseason team appearance since 2012. In addition, the Irish will be attempting to make their first NCAA Championship round appearance in program history.

The Field
Thirteen teams will be fighting for five spots to advance to the NCAA Championships. The seeding is as follows: No. 1 Oklahoma St, No. 2 Illinois, No. 3 Auburn, No. 4 SMU, No. 5 Notre Dame, No. 6 Alabama, No. 7 Baylor, No. 8 Sam Houston St, No. 9 Little Rock, No. 10 Ole Miss, No. 11 Northwestern, No. 12 Charleston and No. 13 MTSU.

Irish Clubhouse
The Irish have averaged 284.22 strokes per tournament, are 44-under-par overall and have secured three top-three finishes this spring. Individually, they are led by senior captain Davis Chatfield, who averages 71.44 strokes per round. Both Palmer Jackson and Tucker Clark follow close behind with a 71.61 average. 

This week’s tournament marks the first postseason appearance for all five main competitors.

Golf Channel will provide highlights from regional play leading up to coverage of the 2021 championships to be held at Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Ariz., hosted by Arizona State and The Thunderbirds.
