NOTRE DAME, Ind. — The 2001 NCAA national championship Notre Dame women’s basketball team will be honored April 23 at a White House ceremony.

The White House reception will include remarks by President George W. Bush, a photograph session with the President and a tour of the White House. The visit to the White House will be the first for an Irish team since the 1988 national championship football team similarly was honored.

Notre Dame won its first NCAA women’s basketball championship with a 68-66 win over Purdue on April 1, capping a school-record 34-2 season for the Irish.
