Nardella Named Hockey East Rookie of the Week

NOTRE DAME, Ind. – Notre Dame freshman defenseman Bobby Nardella was named the Hockey East Rookie of the Week on Monday, Oct. 26.

Nardella helped the Irish to a pair of 3-3 ties with fifth-ranked Minnesota Duluth over the weekend (Oct. 23-24) to earn the first weekly Hockey East honor of his young career.

Nardella scored his first career goal in Friday night’s 3-3 tie with the Bulldogs, knotting the game at 2-2 in the middle of the second period. Then in Saturday night’s 3-3 tie, he recorded his first career multi-point game with a pair of assists. He finished the weekend with a +1 plus/minus rating and also blocked a shot.

Nardella and the Irish open Hockey East play this weekend with a two-game series against Connecticut. Game one will be played at 3:05 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 31 at the XL Center in Hartford, Conn. Game two will be a 2:35 p.m. puck drop on Sunday, Nov. 1 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, N.Y.
