NOTRE DAME, Ind. – Sophomore Troy Murphy tied the record of Player of the Week honors in a season.
The forward earned his sixth honor this season, as he led his team past Seton Hall, 76-74. Murphy tied his career high in scoring with 35 points. He also had eight rebounds and three blocked shots.
Murphy set his career high earlier this season at 35 points against St. Francis. The sophomore has scored 30 points or more in nine games this season.
Murphy’s sixth honor ties the record set by Syracuse’s John Wallace in the 1995-’96 season.
Currently, Murphy leads the Big East in scoring, averaging 23.5 points per game. He also leads the conference in rebounds, grabbing 10.7 per game.
Murphy ranks fourth in the country in scoring and seventh in rebounding.
