NOTRE DAME, Ind. – The Notre Dame Monogram Club is pleased to announce that Will McCarthy (’95, ’99 swimming), Phil Murphy (’99 soccer), Chinedum Ndukwe (’07 football), Kathleen Robert (’93 fencing) and Rob Williamson (’93 lacrosse) have joined the organization’s board of directors to serve three-year terms through 2016. The class of directors was unanimously approved by the Monogram Club membership at the organization’s Annual Mass & Meeting (“An Evening With The Monogram Club”) on April 20.

In addition, the Monogram Club re-affirmed the Executive Committee officers, highlighted by Haley Scott DeMaria (’95 swimming) being introduced as president. Dick Nussbaum (’74, ’77 baseball) will serve as past president, Kevin O’Connor (’89 lacrosse) has been named first vice president, and Mike Frantz (’73 football) will serve as secretary/legal counsel.

The Club also proudly welcomed board advisor Terri Vitale (’94, ’95 tennis) into the presidential rotation as the second vice president. She will serve as president of the Monogram Club from 2017-19. Additionally, board advisor Pat Garrity (’98 basketball) has been appointed treasurer.

The Executive Committee and Board of Directors also recommended to elect Marty Allen (’58 manager) as a director emeritus, joining Jim Murphy (’49 track & field) as the second individual in the 97-year history of the Monogram Club to be elected to Board Emeritus status.

Finally, before closing the Annual Mass & Meeting, the Monogram Club membership approved amendments to the by-laws. Please note that the updated by-laws can be found by clicking the link above.

Will McCarthy ’95, ’99 J.D./M.B.A. (swimming) – Director, 2013-16

McCarthy currently serves as Vice President of Originations at GE Capital’s Bank Loan Group. In this capacity, he establishes and maintains relationships with more than 15 agent banks, evaluates transactions annually and actively participates in deal reviews and market analysis.

Before being promoted to his current position in 2010, McCarthy was an assistant vice president and associate with the company, where he led underwriting, approval, closing and legal review on new investments.

Prior to moving to Chicago in 2004, McCarthy spent three years as a senior auditor and process leader with GE Insurance in Richmond, Va.

After earning his bachelor’s degree in finance in 1995, McCarthy entered Notre Dame’s four-year MBA/JD program, which he graduated from in 1999. He was a four-year member of the Fighting Irish swim team, and an eight-year member of the university’s club water polo team.

Will and his wife, Maggie (SMC ’97), live in Elmhurst, Ill., and have four children: twins Liam and Connor, Annie, and Katie.

Phil Murphy ’99 (soccer) – Director, 2013-16

Murphy is currently an executive search consultant at Spencer Stuart in Philadelphia. He oversees the company’s sports business practice, helping conduct searches for chief executive officers, athletic directors, conference commissioners, head coaches, and other senior executives. Some of his past clients have included the Green Bay Packers, Madison Square Garden Company, Stanford University, the Pac-12 Conference, the United States Olympic Committee, Manchester United and the NFL. He is also a member of Spencer Stuart’s financial officer practice, helping organizations recruit chief financial officers and other senior financial executives.

Prior to joining Spencer Stuart, Murphy spent several years in corporate finance with Arthur Andersen, and more recently, Deloitte, where he was responsible for advising clients on all aspects of mergers and acquisitions.

While at Notre Dame, Murphy was a co-captain, four-year Monogram winner and two-time most valuable player of the men’s soccer team. A first-team academic All-American and recipient of the Byron V. Kanaley Award, Murphy graduated from Notre Dame with a degree in finance in 1999. He earned an MBA from the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School in 2006.

Phil and his wife, Meghan (’01), have two children: Connor and Caitlin. The Murphy family resides in Wayne, Pa.

Chinedum Ndukwe ’07 (football) – Director, 2013-16

Ndukwe is the president and founder of The Ndukwe Foundation, a non-profit organization established in 2009 and dedicated to promoting youth wellness in the greater Cincinnati area by providing nutritional, educational and athletic resources. Along with his three siblings, he has helped generate more than $100,000 for youth programs, educational services and wellness activities in the community.

The former Irish safety was drafted by Cincinnati in the seventh round of the 2007 NFL Draft and played five seasons with the Bengals and Oakland Raiders. In 55 career games, he intercepted seven passes, recorded 7.5 sacks and scored two touchdowns. From 2008 to 2010, he was a representative for NFL Play 60, the league’s youth health and fitness campaign.

Chinedum graduated from Notre Dame with a bachelor’s degree in psychology in May 2007. He currently resides in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Kathleen Robert ’93 (fencing) – Director, 2013-16

Currently a communications advisor using Emergenetics, Robert was previously in hospital administration as a Director of Case Management, Social Services and Quality Assurance. She is the owner of L’Amoire Privee, LLC.

A very active member of the greater southeast Louisiana community, Robert is a board member for several non-profit organizations, including the American Red Cross SOLA Chapter, Family Service of Greater New Orleans, Junior League of New Orleans and Cancer Crusaders. She is on the LSU Cancer Center Advisory Board and has also served as president and Monogram representative for the Notre Dame Club of New Orleans, and president of the New Orleans Association for Health Care Quality, among many other roles.

Robert was a four-year foilist on the fencing team and graduated from Notre Dame in 1993 with a bachelor’s degree in philosophy and a concentration in the Hesburgh Program for Public Policy/Public Service. She also obtained an RN and an MHA from the Tulane University School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine.

Kathleen and her husband, Kearny, live in Metairie, La. and have two children: Molly and Lizzie.

Rob Williamson ’93 (lacrosse) – Director, 2013-16

Williamson is the founding attorney at Williamson & Associates PC, a law firm with locations in Massachusetts and North Dakota. He is also President of Caribou Energy Corporation, an oilfield services company. He also currently serves as a JAG officer in the Army National Guard, where he has deployed to Iraq and served in Germany, Korea, Poland and Cuba.

A cancer survivor, Williamson ran the Chicago Marathon in Oct. 2011 as part of his involvement in Team in Training, an organization dedicated to helping individuals form groups to prepare for marathons, while raising money for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

Along with former teammate Chris Parent (’93), Williamson has also made multiple relief trips to Haiti, after the earthquake that devastated the country in 2010.

Williamson was an Army ROTC cadet, member of the Irish lacrosse team and recipient of the Bryan V. Kanaley Award, the most prestigious honor bestowed upon student-athletes at Notre Dame. He graduated in 1993 with a degree in government and international studies, and a concentration in peace studies. He earned an MBA and JD from the University of Denver, where he is also an adjunct instructor in Leadership and Organizations.

Rob and his wife, Aimee (’93), have two children: Colton, a freshman at Notre Dame, and Helena. The Williamsons reside in North Attleboro, Mass.
