ATLANTA – Notre Dame track and field alum Molly Seidel locked up her first Olympics appearance on Saturday, as the 2016 graduate finished second in the marathon.
Seidel (2:27.31) and winner Aliphine Tuliamuk (2:27:23) dominated the field to lock up the top two spots and punch their ticket to Tokyo for the 2020 games. The opening ceremonies are scheduled for July 24.
Seidel became the first woman in US history to make the Olympic marathon team in a marathon debut.
