Molly Bruggeman To Participate In U23 Training Camp

April 5, 2012

NOTRE DAME, Ind. – University of Notre Dame rower Molly Bruggeman is among 20 athletes chosen to participate at the 2012 Women’s U-23 National Team Camp, it was announced recently by U.S. Rowing.

“I am beyond excited for the opportunity to be rowing with some fantastic athletes and coaches from around the country this summer,” Bruggeman says. “I know that I will learn a lot and grow in my experiences as an athlete, which is something I hope to bring back to my team.”

The sophomore from Dayton, Ohio, has already had an accomplished career during her time at Notre Dame. In the fall of 2011, Bruggeman was a member of the varsity four boat that finished fifth at the prestigious Head of the Charles Regatta with a time of 18:40.01.

During her freshman campaign, Bruggeman rowed with the varsity eight boat for the entirety of the spring season, helping the boat finish second at the BIG EAST Championship and qualify for the Grand Final at the Oak Ridge Regional.

The U-23 National Team Camp begins May 29 in Syracuse, N.Y., and goes into the month of July, when squads will be selected to compete at the U-23 World Championships in Trakai, Lithuania. Athletes can be cut at any point during the camp, and those competing at the World Championships will leave July 5.
