Mikayla Vaughn to Miss Remainder of 2017-18 Season

NOTRE DAME, Ind. – Notre Dame women’s basketball freshman forward Mikayla Vaughn will miss the remainder of the 2017-18 season after tearing her ACL in her left leg in practice on Tuesday, Nov. 28. As a result of the injury, the Irish are left with eight healthy/active scholarship players.

Vaughn had played in the first six contests, averaging 13.2 minutes per game. The freshman also averaged the fifth most points (8.0) and rebounds (4.3) on the team and had shot 62.2 percent from the field, which ranked fourth in the ACC.

Josh Bates joined Fighting Irish Media as associate athletics communications director in July of 2017, serving as the women’s basketball and men’s golf contact. Bates earned both his bachelor’s (2011) and master’s (2014) degree in sports management from the University of Illinois. He also worked as a grad assistant at Illinois from 2012-14 and worked full-time at Tulane University from 2014-17.
