NOTRE DAME, Ind. — Notre Dame rower Michelle Olsgard (Fort Collins, Colo.) has been one of 12 collegiate rowers invited to participate in a Freshman Rowing Developmental Camp at the ARCO Olympic Training Center in Chula Vista, Calif. from June 2-22. Only athletes who are in their first year of collegiate competition are eligible for the camp.

The 12 rowers selected, who were nominated by their coaches, also will train with the U.S. National Team. The camp offers individuals the opportunity to improve their training techniques.

Olsgard, a member of the Notre Dame novice team, was the stroke for the Irish Novice Eight boat that experienced great success in its inaugural season. She helped the crew to a second-place finish at the Midwest Championships and at the Georgetown Invitational, two of the premier regattas the Notre Dame team participated during the spring.

“This is a great honor and privilege for Michelle,” Irish head coach Martin Stone says. “As a first-year program, this means a great deal to have someone with Michelle’s talents selected for this camp. She worked extremely hard this season, and I look forward to having her move up to the varsity level next year. Michelle has a tremendous future at Notre Dame, and is one of the key young student-athletes we have on our team who will help us establish our program nationally.”
