Men's Tennis Set To Host "Smash MS" Clinic Saturday

Sep 5, 2013

NOTRE DAME, Ind. – The University of Note Dame men’s tennis team is ready to smash multiple sclerosis and it wants the South Bend and Notre Dame communities to join in. The Irish are holding two sessions of the clinic they are calling “Smash MS” Saturday morning at the Eck Tennis Center.

The Notre Dame team, led by head coach Ryan Sachire, is holding two clinics, one for the South Bend community from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. and another for the Notre Dame community from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m.

“We are extremely excited to partner our Fighting Irish Men’s Tennis program with the MS Society for this great event,” said Sachire. “It’s important that our players use their position as Notre Dame student-athletes to benefit those living around us in the community, and driving awareness to a cause such as the fight against multiple sclerosis is certainly a way to do that. We enthusiastically encourage all of those interested to come out and participate in the clinics.”

Participants will get to hit around with the players and pick up tips from the reigning BIG EAST champions for much of the hour-long session. At the end of the clinic members of the Notre Dame men’s basketball and softball squads will take the court and try and hit serves from members of the Irish men’s tennis team such as reigning BIG EAST Player of the Year Greg Andrews, reigning BIG EAST Freshman of the Year Quentin Monaghan and all-BIG EAST performer Billy Pecor.

The clinic is free for both communities, but donations will be accepted throughout the morning. Participants will receive a free “Smash MS” shirt and representatives from the MS Society will be in attendance to answer any questions clinic participants may have.

Anyone that would like to donate to the MS Society but can’t make it to the clinic can send a check to:

National Multiple Sclerosis Society
Indiana State Chapter

Checks can be made out to the MS Society Indiana Chapter with Smash MS mentioned in the subject line.
