Men's Swimming ACC Championships Update: Day One

Day One Results

GREENSBORO, North Carolina — The No. 17 Irish competed in two relays on Wednesday as part of the first day of the ACC Championships.

While the Irish were disqualified for an early takeoff in the 200 Medley Relay, the Notre Dame team of Sadler McKeen, Jack Hoagland, Liam Hutchinson and Cason Wilburn posted a 6:19.07 in the 800 Free Relay, good for sixth place and an NCAA Provisional relay cut.

“Tough way to start off the meet with a relay DQ, but our guys showed a lot of fight in a solid 800 Free Relay,” head swim coach Mike Litzinger said.Zach Smith time trialed the 200 Fly tonight and put up the ninth-best time in the NCAA with a 1:42.57. We will be ready to go tomorrow.”

Smith’s 200 Fly was an NCAA B-Cut, and at 1:42.57, improves his time as the current second-fastest performer in program history in the event.
