Patrick Berneski vs. Syracuse

Notre Dame Places Four On All-ACC Teams

NOTRE DAME, Ind. — The ACC announced its season awards on Wednesday and four Irish players earned conference recognition for their play on the pitch this season. Seniors Patrick Berneski and Thomas Ueland received second-team status while senior Felicien Dumas and junior Tommy McCabe were named to the third team.

#25 PATRICK BERNESKI
Berneski has excelled in the attack and in defense this season, as the center back is tied for the team lead in goals with six on the season, the most of any defender in the ACC. The senior also anchors a back line that has recorded six clean sheets this season and has allowed just one or no goals in 14 of 18 matches in 2018. The Irish skipper has been lethal in set pieces, as all six goals have come from corners or free kicks.

#21 THOMAS UELAND
The senior forward has made a huge impact in attack for the Irish, scoring six goals during the 2018 campaign. Ueland’s six goals are tied for the team lead. The senior finished the regular season strong, scoring four times in the last six matches. Of the six goals that Ueland has scored, two have been match winners, as strikes against Xavier and Pitt proved to be the deciding scores in the victories.

#5 FELICIEN DUMAS
Despite battling injuries in the second half of the season, Dumas has made an impact in from his full back position this season. The senior has set been key in creating chances this season and has a team-high six assists, which rank fifth in the ACC. The defender is one of the primary takers of corners and free kicks for the Irish. The senior has also scored a goal off a free kick, firing a perfectly-placed ball into the top corner of the goal in the win over Syracuse.

#16 TOMMY MCCABE
The junior midfielder has been a field general from his defensive midfielder position for Notre Dame. McCabe has started 17 matches and has earned caps in all 18 this season. The junior has been a major contributor in the defensive efforts for the Irish, helping the team to six clean sheets and 14 matches of allowing just one or no goals. McCabe also has an assist to his name in 2018, setting up a score in the 3-0 victory over UConn.
