Irish sit in Ninth after Two Rounds of Augusta Invitational

AUGUSTA, Georgia — With two rounds behind them, the University of Notre Dame men’s golf team is tied for ninth heading into the final day of the Augusta Haskins Award Invitational. Totalling 574 strokes through 36 holes, the Irish sit at two-under par.
 
Round One
Through one round at the Augusta Haskins Award Invitational, the Irish were plus-three and 11th overall. Taichi Kho led through the first 18 holes, registering a four-under par and tied for sixth individually. John Felitto followed tied for 18th with a round of 70 (-2).
 
Rounding out the team scoring for round one was Miguel Delgado (+3) and Davis Lamb (+5).
 
Round Two
The Irish climbed two spots in round two to move to ninth place heading into Sunday’s final round. Only three strokes separate the Irish from a top-seven finish and win over two top-25 opponents.
 
Notre Dame improved by eight strokes in round two to post a five-under par. Kho remained Notre Dame’s top finisher despite dropping 12 spots in the rankings. Kho shot a second round 73 (+1) to move to three-under par.
 
Davis Lamb notched the best outing in the afternoon, shooting 32 spots up the leaderboard after round two to move into 38th place. Lamb fired off a round of 67 (-5), which included seven birdies, which resulted in Lamb moving to one-over par for the tournament.
 
Felitto bounced back after a front nine that featured three bogeys with a birdie on the 11th to card a round of two-over par. Miguel Delgado carded a fairly clean sleet. His only hiccup was a double-bogey on the ninth, in which he rebounded with birdies on the 11th and 18th.
