NOTRE DAME, Ind. – The Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) honored the Notre Dame men’s golf team with a 2016 Team Academic Award, the organization announced on Wednesday, July 27.

To be eligible for GCAA All-Academic Team honors, a college or university must submit grade point averages for each player on its official squad list for the academic year and then the team’s cumulative GPA must be a 3.00 or higher. Notre Dame was one of 112 Division I programs to earn the honor.

Notre Dame has now earned the honor each season since the Academic Team Awards program began in 2009 (eight years).

The Fighting Irish open the 2016-17 season by hosting the one day, 36-hole Kickoff Challenge on Sept. 3 at the Warren Golf Course.
